About Jerry's bar

Jerry's cocktail bar is named after a professor Jerry Thomas. He is considered to be the Father of the cocktail. This is not to say that he invented it, which he did not, but instead that he nurtured it, raised it and turn helped to introduce it to the world. He was born in 1830. By profession he was a bartender and showman in El Dorado bar San Francisco, than a principal bartender of New York's "The Metropolitan hotel" and "Planter's house" in St. Louis. In 1862 he published the book: "How to mix drinks or the bon vivant's companion".

This was the first book including recipes for the drink known as the cocktail. He invented a lot of famous cocktails like Blue blaser, Martinez cocktail, Tom & Jerry, Champagne cocktail and many others. Some of them you can taste also in our bar.

Jerry's cocktail bar je pomenovaný podľa profesora Jeryho Thomasa nazývaného aj "otec cocktailu".Neznamená to, že cocktaily vynašiel, ale aj vďaka nemu sa stali svetoznáme. Jerry Thomas sa narodil v roku 1830. Pôsobil ako barman a showman v El Dorado bare v San Franciscu, ďalej ako šéfbarman newyorského "The Metropolitan" hotela a "Planter's house" v St. Louis. V roku 1862 vydal ako prvý knihu receptov pre barmanov: "How to mix drinks or the bon vivant's companion" , s nápojmi známymi ako "cocktail". Aj vďaka tejto knihe popularita cocktailov rýchlo rástla. Vynašiel veľké množstvo cocktailov ako napríklad Blue Blaser, Martinez cocktail, Tom & Jerry, Champagne cocktail a veľa iných. Niektoré z nich máte možnosť ochutnať aj u nás.
